Update Firmware for BL touch rolls back board from 4.0 to 3.x?

Hi, has anyone one else had this happen to them?

I could not get the Geeetech firmware toolkit to work, getting constant timeout and STK errors
I tried upgrading using the Cura upgrade option, which worked using the A20M downloaded file
