And now, a new wrinkle. This is getting tiring.
Everytime I start Arduino IDE and import the libraries, when I verify, everything goes fine. When I try to upload, every time, it comes back with an error saying that com8 is in use by another program.

I've disabled, rebooted and enabled com port 8. No joy.

I edited the registry, and reset all com ports. No joy.

I've rebooted so many times, I get sick to my stomach looking at the windows logon logo.

I'm about done with this thing. I'd love a 3d printer. I thought I bought one. This isn't working after two months of struggle.

Time to move on, I think.

" it comes back with an error saying that com8 is in use by another program"
Did you disconnect the printer from the repetier host when uploading?

just connect the bare mainboard to pc with usb cable, and check if there is still a usb series port in device manager.if it exist ,please try to reburn the fimware to the bare mainboard.

Haven't been able to upload firmware. Still have two rows of blocks. Had this thing for months, sitting here, mocking me.

I can get the Arduino to successfully upload firmware, and i've had several people send me the same firmware, so I'm assuming it's correct. However, no joy. Blocks are still here.

Is this thing just a toy, or did I get a bad one?

Thanks!

How did you install the firmware? you can refer to the link here to check it:
http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 20&t=16433

And check the LCD problem here:
http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 13&t=17040
download the firmware here:
http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 10&t=17046

If your printer can controlled through the repetier host and just the LCD has blocks, I think the board is working.
And after you installed the firmware and it still has blocks, then the LCD might be defective, you need to contact the seller to talk about it.
