Wow, I totally forgot about this thread, hahahaha.
I didn't bother checking the thermistor, just bought a new hot end which seems to have been prepared/built a whole lot better than the one I was supplied.
Overall, replaced the GT2560 board, hotend, lead rods and couplers and it has been working fine for the last month or so.
No overheating etc. The only thing I think I will do next is upgrade the PSU to an ATX PSU and possibly replace the bed to an MK3 or similar.
Other than that, I am happy to be printing although the first few months of ownership were horrendous!! lol.
