Hi,

Just build a Geeetech prusa I3 Pro B.

Motor of Extruder is not moving.
I've plug into X axe and it is working fine.

I've exchange X StepStick A4988 Stepper Driver Module with extruder 1 and 2 driver, the X axe continue to work with driver of extruder, but the extruder is still not working.
So knowing that is not extruder problem or Driver module issue, it is certainly firmware issue ( i"ve dowloaded latest one ) or board issue.
Could you please help me to debug ?

Best Regards,
Yann

Hi Yann,
Generally speaking, there are four reasons in total for extruder motor not working:
1.The driver A4988 on this motor has a problem.
2.This motor itself has a problem.
3.The motor cable on this motor has a problem.
4.The the driver slot has a problem so can't send the right output to the motor,at this moment you need to swap the pins with extruder2 and refer to this post:

1. I swap the driver A4988 with X axis, the driver is working
2. i've tested the motor on X axis, it is working
3. The motor cable has been tested with motor of axe Z, it is working
4. I will check this opiton, thank you

Hi! Im Vero from Argentina!
The extruder of my Geeetech I3 ProB is not working correctly. When I set to extrude 100mm/s It extrude only 10mm/s (but this shows that the motor works), but then when I send it to print the motor of the extruder doesn't move even a little. I do all the steps on this post.
I have another extruder so I changed it in order to identificate the problem, but it happens the same thing. So the problem is on the board. Then I changed the controller chip (or driver chip) and mesured the pololu but these things are OK..
Someone have any idea what could be the problem? and any solution? Can I do some changes on the frimware and exchange Extruder 1 with extruder 2 pin or something like that?

I really appreciate your help :D

Thank You William, it is working fine, in fact it was just issue with the direction of the extruder inversed in the firmware.

Hi,@Yann38
You mean the "extruder1" slot is fine or the modifying work fine?

My extruder is also not working, the stepper turns but there is not enough pressure on the filament to force it through the element. If I assist the extruder by hand (pushing it through during a print) it does go through, so it's not a blockage. There is no screw on top of the extruder to increase the pressure.
I have tried putting a small rubber band around the idler in there but it still can't get enough grip to extrude properly.
Is there a bigger brass drive wheel available? Or a new plastic body?
All other suggestions welcome, thanks!
