I had the same problem and bought a aluminum one. Just received the part. Hope that will resolve the problem.
Great, let us know how it turns out

Yep, that was the problem. Just replaced the plastic extruder for a aluminum one and now is working perfectly. :D

Hi, i have a problem with the extruder Mk8 in my geeetech i3x. My printer prints only if i set the extruder multiplier to 5 or 6 in Slic3r, otherwise if i set it to 1 there is not much plastic and a massive under extrusion. I set the voltage of the A4899 to 0.9V, the extruder step/mm to 93 as dafault in Marlin and the filament diameter to 1.75mm in marlin and in slic3r. When i try to extrude 10mm of filament with repetier host, it only extrudes 2mm, and when i try 50mm, it extrudes 10mm. Which could be the problem?

Hi, i solved my problem. I did not flash correctly the firmware on the GT2560 so there was set a 3 mm filament diameter.

Thank you for support, bye! :)

My brand new kit was suffering underextrusion issues which I tried to solve over about a week. Nothing helped. I read on the forums about the weak tension arm so i dissassembled the extruder to make some changes as mentioned in elsewhere in this forum but before I even made any change I finally uncovered the problem.

This part was hidden against the stepper and tension arm the whole time.

Geeetech please do all your future customers a favor, remove every plastic mk8 extruder from your kits and throw them in the bin where they belong. Please don't try to quick fix this with tougher springs, you just destroy the extruder. Just read the comments! You're making a grave mistake supplying these.

@lionking
Did you heat up your extruder before your test? That is necessary.

my plastic mk8 extruder is only "working", if i put preasure on the fillament by hand.

what i checked already:
1) temp checked - OK( i set is to 200 °C )
2) motor working - yes
3) steper motor driver 0.83 V - changed to 1V - but no change
4) i have no "little srew on the top of lever" , i bourgth my pro X 14 days ago - i habe the "plastic" version
5) nozzel is not clogged - while heating the nozzel fillament in comming out

Hello,

i got that problem that the extruder motor doesent move. It`s not defective. I interchanged motor, driver and kabel. Works on all other ports and driver but not on E0 and E1. I allthough flashed the firmware for those who have broken E0 port. Still not working. Got 12.5 volts on E0 and E1 pins.

Greets,

Wes
