Use Iduino Yun stand alone

Is it possible to use th Iduino Yun Shield stand alone or do I need one of leonardo, uno, mega?

What do you use it for? I think it's better for you to have a uno.

Hi. I thougth it can be use alone, but after a lot of reading I think it needs another card. Basically iduino yun shield only provide ehternet and wifi comunication; input / output is provided by Uno.... Am I correct?

I want to control a tv remotely, so I need to connect an IR diode.
I thougth iduino yun shield was able to do it, but uno is needes. Am I correct?

Yes, you need uno , not yun shield.
