Cannot Operate Printer

Post by johnfink »

Printer: i3 Pro B

Condition:

Powered the printer on for first time, LCD shows two black bars and both fans spin up.

Drivers are installed and can connect using "Reptier-Host Geeetech" but the printer will not move. I can toggle heat on bed/ extruder but the temperature will not rise above indicated 0c.

Screen still showing black bars.

I have tried to re-upload Marlin firmware as per advice on this forum but not been successful including after unplugging components.

The result from "Arduino 1.0.1" program is the same "timed out" and "cannot communicate with programmer".

Please assist.

John,
a couple things to check:
firstly, did you ensure that your power supply is indeed set to the correct voltage?
It sounds like you have a power issue, based on the fact that you mention your temp readings at 0c.
Also ensure polarities of your connections. Because you are using a combined AC/DC system (power supply, boards), it is possible to have some
components working, and others not.

Hello my name is Christoph,

I have the same Problems, with my new GEEEtech Prusa I3 pro B, it does not work.
The Powersupply has the correct Output about 12,3 V, on the GT2560 Rev A Board i also have the 12V and on the Testpoint the +5V, the Extruderfan and the Boardfan are running,
on the A4988 Boards I also have the +5V. The Headbed and Extruder Led is green also the USB Led.
The LCD shows no letters, only black squares, all engines stand still and you can´t move them.
In Repetier Host GEEEtech you can connect the Com Port but you can´t do anything, it shows “room temperature/0, room temperature/0”.
I startet to download a new Firmware with Arduino, but after 10 Minutes it fails with a lot of timeout and other errors: "avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout" or
"avrdude: stk500v2_getsync(): timeout comunicating with programmer".

Hopefully anybody can help, thanks.
