Scrambled LCD / Skipping Extruder

Hello all,
I've borrowed my friends I3 Geeetech and had the normal pains and frustrations (skipping extruder, PLA coming out the heating block) I had it going pretty well after adjusting things like the bed, nozzles, feeder tension screw, diver pot, etc., doing prints upwards of 9 hours. Then after probably one of the best prints I had achieved on it it the extruder started skipping again and at a certain point the LCD would look something like this:

The job would keep on going but the extruder would continue to skip. Any ideas? Thanks!

How did the skipping perform?
Maybe the extruder is overheating because of the longtime working?

I don't think it is because of the long prints because it will do it now right from the startup.

I also have/had the same problem. Finally got it working well after months of drama, then the display glitches and the extruder stops extruding.
Today its not moving at all (including from the prepare options), so I put in a new driver board. The extruder then inky retracted before making a massive hum, and now its not moving at all.
Tried a new board, different cable, and different motor. No difference.
I swear this printer has been not worth the money savings.

And now, it seems to be working, randomly. However, it pulses at the beginning of the print, and rocks back and forward before starting to extrude normally.
