GT2560 not working/possible manufacture failure

Post by alex.zapsa »

Hello everyone!

I'm new to this forum, and also new to the 3D printing world. I've been into rc hobby for several years, and that's why I bought a Geeetech pursa i3 pro b revision 2016 (metal X axis brackets)

Well I ordered it last july but I couldnt build it till last week, and yesterday just ended it! Everything was ok, and the building instructions were followed with attention, and more important while doing the power wiring.
So by the time I ended the whole wiring I checked the voltage input for the PSU (220v for Europe), and plugged it to the socket, switched it on, but the board didin't turned on, any of the leds, neither the LCD.
While switched on the PSU was making a clicking sound and the green led was off. But if the PSU was switched on without connecting it to the mainboard, no clicking sounds and the green led was on, and I checked the voltage with a multimeter and was around 12v.

At that moment I supposed that the problem was with the main board (GT2560).

Also during the build I noticed that the main power conector of the mainboard seemed to be reversed in polarity, but I continued the build because could have been a recent change in the design made by geeetech.

Here pictures taken from building instructions:

and here the pics from my build:

So as can be seen in my gt2560 pictures, the board I received has the mainpower connector reversed in polarity...

Well now I'm pretty sure that the mainboard has a sortcircuit, and hopefully the power supply is still ok.

Can anyone help me? I'm writting here because geeetech customer service in ebay told me to do so...

Thank you so much!!!! :D :D

Hi,Alex
Have you tried inserting the power wiring to the socket in reverse?
Did it work?

1.So the leds and fans on the board still didn't work like before?
2.What is the DC output now? According to your description,it seems the PSU has a problem?
3.Do you have a spare PSU or mainboard so you can use to test what the exact part has a problem on earth. The PSU or the mainboard.

Hi William.

The fans or leds never worked, and didn't worked too after reversing the cables.
And the psu works and gives 12,2v more or less (measured with a multimeter) if I unplug the mainboard power connector.
And I dont have any other psu or board to try... but I think maybe the problem is with the board, because the psu works if not plugged to the board. But also I dont have any experience in this kind of problems, so for sure anyone here will know better what to do than me haha

Thanks a lot for your help
