extruder problem solved?

Been struggling with extrusion stopping for over a week since building the acrylic pro b. checked everything, inc increasing spring tension, driver voltage etc. gear wheel turns fine but wont pull filament reliably. 30 prints all fail partway through. today fitted new hotend, thermistor etc etc. Well...
the last thing I checked today was the idler pully assembly that sits in the feeder lever. cant be much wrong with that can there? wrong. the small plastic axle that holds the bearing had broken off from the back, meaning that the more tension was applied to the lever, the more the pulley jammed against the lever housing, but when released seemed to turn fine. That will teach me to check the simplest things first. ordered an all metal feeder, and hopefully all will be well. posting this in case it helps anyone else.
