Hello Ladies and Gentlemen.

I have a proposition to make quieter extruder fans work.
When I started controlling the fans, their squealing began to irritate me.

This is because the rotation speed is controlled by a PWM signal, about audible frequencies.

Just add a suitable capacitor to make the fan operation quieter.
And now I will tell you what to do and how to do it.

The fans supply is 12V DC. Therefore, the operating voltage of the capacitor can not be lower. We need electrolytic capacitors for 16V, or more.

For a fan operation, the capacitor should have a higher capacity, e.g. around 470μF.

But ...

When choosing such a capacitor, we obtain a small range of speed control. This is due to the specific nature of the circuit built. (frequency, voltage, etc.)

Because

The capacitor with lower capacity should be selected experimentally, as desired.
I did tests with capacities from 22μF.

Warning:
Choosing too small capacitance may cause the capacitor to heat up and destroy it, which can be dangerous (the capacitor may in extreme cases be torn apart - explode).

For this reason, I increased the capacity of used capacitors to 33μF.

I am asking for your understanding because I am not a professional creator in this area. While watching, it's worth to turn up the volume.

The capacitor must be soldered to the red and black wires of the fan, keeping special attention to maintaining the correct polarity. The black cable to the negative terminal of the capacitor, the red wire to the positive terminal capacitor.

I wish you all the more quiet and peaceful evenings, with only successful prints.
