
Anyway, the TMC2224 drivers from Panucatt are a drop in replacement. No firmware modding or soldering required.
I did have to the change the motor direction using the Smartto Motor Tool. I think most Trinamic drivers require this.
Since I have a 12V system I had to run the driver in StealthChop2. If you have a 24V system you could probably run the driver in the stronger Spreadcycle mode. For me there was a loud whining coming from the motor in Spreadcylce mode with 12V.
To set my Drivers up, I used 1/16 Micro stepping and Stealthchop2 mode by only having the middle jumper on. I used a Vref of 7.5 for X,Y,E. For the Z I used a Vref of 1.1. So far I've had no layer shifts or issues in Stealthchop mode.
