I purchased my m201 june 4th new from ebay ater constructing the printer and power up the driver chip below the zingle z motor connection caught fire. I did not want to return it, so i purchased a new gtm32 pro vb board from the geeetech site here.
after loading boot loader and firmware, the lcd cycles through the 2 rows of blocks to a blank luminated screen.
the replacement board from geeetech is identical to the bad board. all the steps for loading boot and firmware images form pc match images form the forum topic of m201 firmware by kaktus. needed address change of 800000 to 800200 made. all leds as should be . i did not purchase the ffc cable and lcd 2004 vb, because when i connected the lcd to my ct2560 board for my a10 thew lcd functions as it should but thats with ribbon serial connection, not ffc cable type that comes with m201. to see if the firmware is loading i use easyprint printer information tab and it shows the correct installed firmware if i cha=nge firmware and check again it represents thecorrect version. if i use easyprint to load firmware it goes through with out errors, but lcd still lumintaed blank screen. same result with flash loader. oh and you cant find anywhere to buy the 40pin ffc cable 600mm long . i emailed geetech twice no reply. any help in the matter of trying to get the printer up and running would be4 great. i stll want to purchase the awm20624 ffc cable and new lcd 2004 vb. because i feel the problem may be in the cable or lcd or both.

Hi.

If your display has successfully passed the test with another controller, it means it is in working order.
If you are sure that all the firmware has been loaded correctly then this is a well done step.

The effect that occurs in your case when you connect the display to the M201 printer can be caused by the result:
  1. badly loaded software (the controller does not start properly).
  2. incorrect connection (several or one wires do not contact properly).
in short, the display works this way when it is not properly initialized. :!:

If you have the possibility, check all connections with the multimeter. You can also upload a photo of how you connected the FFC cable.
;)

Hi.

Everything you've prepared looks right.
Can you tell us what the D7 LED looks like when you turn on the power to the controller? I'm interested in what happens to it in the first 10 seconds after you turn on the power.
You can also make a short movie. ;)
Of course, when the jumper cap is not on.

I would also like to ask for additional experience.
This will confirm that the controller is starting up correctly.

Connect the controller to the computer using a USB cable. Turn on the computer, turn on the power supply to the controller board.
Start the RS232 terminal program, connect to the controller board.
Press the reset button on the controller board.

Text should appear in the terminal window when the controller starts.
8-)

I press the Open button ("Open connection"), then the printer restarts and the following text appears in the console:

.
When you achieve a similar effect, we may wonder why your LCD module is "silent". :D
