Geeetech won't connect

I got a new geeetech A10 printer and I'm new to all this.
Can someone tell me why my computer refuses to acknowledge its existence? No software I've used sees it plugged in, and every tutorial glosses over the connection; they see what i don't. I've tried easyprint, cura, and pronterface.
Please help! I'm about to cry!
