Re: We need a simpler I3 mk8 extruder mount design
Hi,
I wasn't really thinking about this from the perspective of interrupting a job, replacing the extruder and starting the job again, but I did go ahead and drill out the X-Carraige in the picture to accept the L bracket. I've printed several smaller and two large parts with this configuration and ...

Re: We need a simpler I3 mk8 extruder mount design
HI,
Thanks for the response and thanks for posting the message. I previously asked to purchase a few of the aluminum plates but did not get a response from sales.
I think my point is more along the lines of "why is it so complicated" rather than "I can't get the specific part I need." (Although ...

What printers does this part fit?
I enjoy working on my cars and often search for parts on-line. The VERY FIRST thing car parts web sites ask you when you are looking for parts is "what kind of car do you have?" Once you tell it what kind of car you have, you see the brake drums, rotors, gaskets, whatever, that actually fit your car ...

Re: Re picking up.Job After hard stop bump
Hi,
In general, if a job fails midway through the job, the part is lost. I have lost more 10 hour robotics parts on overnight jobs than I care to think about because of bad filament, a failed pulley bearing, a loose wire, whatever. There's nothing worse then looking at the printer in the morning ...

Re: nozzle
The smallest practical extruder nozzles are about .2mm and you can buy those on eBay if you want. But the smaller the nozzle, the slower you have to go to avoid backpressure and filament stripping or stepper skipping.
Remember, the size of the nozzle is not necessarily what determines how fine the ...

We need a simpler I3 mk8 extruder mount design
Hello all,
I'm going to start this discussion on a couple of forums, but since I have an aluminum Geetech I3, I thought I would start here...
Why is the extruder mount assembly so convoluted? Changing out extruder parts should and could be SO simple, but because of the mounting process ...

Re: Extruder threaded rod
If you have a Geeetech Mk8 extruder, you want a M6x38mm threaded extruder tube with teflon PTFE liner. You can use a 30mm threaded rod but it will make threading filament tricky and there will not be as much clearance under the hot-end. You can get these from Amazon if you are in a hurry and don't ...

Re: Geeetech MK8 Extruder / Firmware changes
Yes this is E-steps on your extruder. This is the number of steps the motor must turn to push 1 millimeter of filament into the extruder. (200 is one complete rotation) The default entry is insanely high and it needs to be between 75 and 110 depending on several factors. If you haven't calibrated ...

Re: Sanguinololu "Ghost"
Quick update. Using Repetier instead of Printrun made no difference and I was able to see commands via the log files...all were correct. I downloaded and installed the Marlin firmware version Geeetech provided. It was still the 1.0.0 version tweaked slightly for my printer. I ran it on a clean ...
