Great advice, I will put lubricant on both the smooth and threaded rods and see if that helps.

As for the screw and testing voltage, could you please clarify or provide pictures? Where is the screw on the motor? How do I test the voltage? I do have a multimeter.

How do I remove the beeper from the LCD? What was it there for in the first place?

Thanks for your help so far, it's starting to look like we're almost done troubleshooting.

The following picture shows how to test the voltage between screw and GND:

Some printers are set to beep after finishing printing in firmware, so the LCD has a beeper.
You can use a electric soldering iron to remove the beeper.

Is this the beeper boxed in blue?

If so, would I remove it by heating these two metal points (boxed in blue) with the soldering iron until the beeper falls off?

How do I do it step by step please. Thanks

I've desoldered the back but the beeper still won't come out. There's some silver around the pins left, but it doesn't look like soldering. It looks like something else.

What can/should I do?

There is a tool that can remove the melted tin:

I already have this tool. This isn't what's wrong. I've removed all the spldering but there's still something holding the beeper in place

I managed to pry the beeper out with a small screw driver. The loud, high pitched sound is gone. I'm going to lubricate the rods now and see if that helps. If not I might just have to run to a hardware store for replacements tomorrow.

Also, which way do I rotate the driver screws to increase z motor torque? Clockwise or counterclockwise? Clockwise, correct?
