G2 Does Not Print

Hello,
I have finally gotten everything to work and set up, however, I cannot seem to be able to print. The nozzle of the hot end does not touch the bed and the LCD reads "heating..." without ever proceeding with any actual printing. I did not receive an end-stop to attach to the nozzle but I was assured I could bypass those steps but never explained how. I would love some help to solve this issue.
I had to replace the J-head hot end with a metal one so my Z-axis height is 186mm which I've corrected on the firmware (arduino) and the Repetier software, my z-axis zeros out when I move it manually to touch the bed but I still do not understand why I cannot print.
