Types of lubrication ?

What is the recommended type of lubrication and the method of it as well ?
I was thinking of using lithium based grease but i also have many other types of grease available to me .
I always grease the bearings before installing them using a packer i made to force grease in to the bearings but i was thinking
that there may always be a better way and I should ask .
