Hi,

Would someone be kind enough to let me know the exact size pneumatic push fitting I need to get for the MK8 for 3mm filament and 1.75mm filament?

Mine was missing, the seller found it and apparently lost it again and I'm having a heck of a time trying to find info online as to what size the fitting is on the threaded side that goes into the MK8 and what size the push fitting ID should be for what size ptfe tubing.

I understand there is two different sizes to be used, one for 3mm filament and one for 1.75mm filament.

I understand the ID of the ptfe tube is to be 4mm for 3mm filament and 2mm for 1.75 filament. But what's the OD of the ptfe tubing?

Does the same push fitting work for both filament sizes and you just change the ptfe tube size? Or are there two different push fitting sizes?

With so many sizes online, and some call for two differentfittings depending on filament size...

And none say they're specifically for the MK8... I'm rather confused as to which are the right ones to get?

I may even be able to get this locally but I have no clue what size the male threaded end is. Diameter and pitch.

Can anyone help end the confusion on this by giving me the correct fitting sizes and diameters etc etc?

tia

Hi William,

I ended up taking the extruder apart and bringing the "L" bracket to a local shop who let me know what the size of the threaded hole was.

For all others who'd like to know. It's a 1/8th BSPP non tapered (PL) which is the British Standard Parallel Pipe, a standard commonly used in Britain.

There's also BSPT which is tapered.

I found a really nice push fitting that is BSPT/BSPP compatible locally that's made in Italy.

1/8th BSPP X 4mm for 1.75mm filament.
1/8th BSPP x 6mm for 3.0mm filament.

The two PTFE tubing sizes that fit in the push end are:

4mm OD x 2mm ID for 1.75mm filament
6mm OD x 4mm ID for 3.0mm filament.

What's missing on the Geeetech page for this fitting is the thread size. It's stated it's a 1/8th thread. Which if you're not from Britain, or are not familiar with the British Pipe Standards, which I wasn't till now, that's very confusing.

I was thinking that was a thread pitch reference, because it's certainly not a 1/8th inch hole diameter.

At any rate, I now have the fitting installed. It really helps to keep the filament centered. I even picked up an extra one, as I plan on adding a second extruder.

I hope this info helps others that might be confused or wanting to know.

Cheers,
