PID Autotune on an M201 printer

I have an M201 printer and found the 2in1 out extruder to be too tempermental so I replace it with a single extruder purchased from you. The problem is that the PID settings are all wrong for the new extruder (of course) and there is no way to run PID autotune. I have firmware v. 1.0.4. If I change to 1.0.5 will that give me PID autotune for the extruder?

If not then how do I get autotune for my M201 with single extruder installed?

Thanks for thinking about this.

Hi,
I guess your new single extruder has a cartridge heater coming with and the cartridge heater's rated volt is 12V,while the original one used in M201 is 24V,therefore something wrong happens as you said.
I think you'd better replace the cartridge heater on single extruder with the original one on M201.Then everything will be OK i guess.

Well that's not right according to this link.

I'll measure it when I get home and double check.

Yes,i've read the info on that page.
Let me put it in this way:
When you buy the 2-in-1-out hotend separately, you can use the heating rod(12V).
But the heating rod coming with the hotend of M201 has the rated voltage 24V,and the firmware for M201 is compatible with 24V.

That still doesn't answer my question about running PID autotune.

Even if I change the heater resistor to use the "24" volt on, the PID still will change since the mass of the single extruder is so much smaller it will heat up and cool down much faster than the larger 2 in 1 unit that the PID is set for.

And I still think the original heater is a 12 volt running on 24 volts. I am unable to locate any heater that runs on 24 volts only, but many that will heat on 12 or 24 volts without burning out.

As far as i know, there is no PID autotune on M201.They're specific values in the firmware, you can find it "Control->temperature->PID" on your LCD...
As for the voltage, yes the heating rod voltage in the link you attached is 12V,but i should say,the 2-in-1-out hotend can work on 12V and 24V,and what matters is the heating rod and that depends on the DC output of your PSU.Obviously, the DC output of M201 is 24V,so?
