Problems with temperatures

My print head temperature seems to jump up and down 20C on my i3. It does not do it all of the time. It will jump around for 5 minutes and then the temperature readings will be steady. I have wiggled the wires to see if there is a short or loose connection and this does not trigger the temperature variations.
Any suggestions?

Is the printer M201 or other version?
You can try reloading the firmware, see if it will be better.
Download the firmware here:

I don't know which version, how can you tell. It is about 1 month old.
As I mentioned it does not do it all the time. It may do it for 5 minutes and then stop work fine for 2 hours. The temperature jumps up and down 10-20 degrees in a fraction of a second and then 5 minutes later it is fine. Do you think it is firmware or a bad thermistor? It is printing right now and the temp is consistent.
The board is the GT2560
Thanks

Generally speaking,it's the thermistor on the heating block caused it.
You can check if the extruder thermistor has a good contact with the heating block.

It was the thermistor hitting and then not hitting the heating block. Pulled the wires tighter in the up direction and the problem was solved. Thanks
