Hi, I need some information.
What's your printer type?
Are your Z thread rods M8 or T8 and what is the Z step/mm?
How does it move when printing?

Hi thanks for your reply
The printer is an i3
The rods are m8
Motor step angle 1.8
Driver microstepping 1/16
The motors move very slow and only move around 1.5mm when I ask it to move 10mm
Any help would be appreciated.
Jim

Jim, your answer is vague.
I3 is a group of printers. This indication does not represent your model. This is important information.

The Z step/mm value should be 2560, please check the value through LCD->CONTROL->MOTION->Z STEP/MM.

Issue resolved thanks to advise.
I used Repetier in manual mode and set M92 Z2540
M500 to save
I also found the item on the LCD screen under Control Motion Zaxis steps
Thanks again Jim
