Defective A4988 Module, Control Board, and LCD
Hi,
I just assembled the Acrylic Geeetech I3 pro 3D Printer (8mm) I purchased from you.
I followed your instructions and put the printer together with no problems.
I installed all the electronics including the heat sinks on the A4988 driver module and made sure the cooling fans were functioning.
I used a meter to check the PSU (power supply unit) and the electrical connections. All were okay.
I connected the Control Board to my computer and install all the software. All installed properly.
The Repetier-Host software acknowledged the Comm port to the Control Board.
However, when I turned on the PSU one of the A4988 modules started smoking.
I immediately turned off the power and remove the defective drive module.
I restarted the system without the defective module and the Control board lit up with no more smoking.
All the fans turned on and the LCD screen lit up with all black squares and nothing else.
No manual controls are functional and the Repetier-Host software will not send any commands to the 3D printer.
I reset everything and rechecked all the wiring and connections.
Again, I used a meter to check the power supply and it is functioning.
Now the LCD screen is not lit.
My question is :
1. When will you send me replacement components to replace all the electronics except the power supply?
Please respond as soon as possible as I was hoping to buy more of these.
I am a teacher and was setting this up for my classroom.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Good luck. I had the same thing happen minus the smoke. Still waiting on tech support for it. Actually about to open a paypal dispute for a refund on the pile of garbage they sent me.

Get a refund and buy from a respected company. They denied my PayPal refund so I escalated it to a claim.

1. We can conclude that A4988 is broken. Please contact customer service , let them send a new one.
2. Please look at the LCD screen at different angle, if you can see words at an angle, then rotate the screw on top-right corner behind LCD clockwise.

There are no letters or black squares. Turning the resistor pot had no effect.
