x-axis skipping

i am trying to print a large part and the x-axis is randomly "skipping", sounds like its grinding, then it continues printing but everything has shifted 3mm (approx).

any suggestions?

Please check if the x motor driver is bad:
Swap x motor driver with a fine driver. Then check if it still make sound when moving.
