GT6 extruder gear, extrusion issues.

Post by Bukkiah »

So I purchased a GT6
http://www.geeetech.com/assembled-jieta ... p-825.html

I unfortunately received the 1.75 mm version. Geeetech staff sent me the parts to turn a 1.75mm unit into a 3mm unit. (Body, nozzle, throat, throat liner)

I changed out the new parts... it heats up... I can read the heat... extrusion does not occur. :(

So I thought it was a temperature problem, but when I PUSH (with my hands) the filament in, it does extrude, hmmm.

So as a debugging measure I removed the hot end, and told the firmware minimum temp is 20C, so that I could just extrude without the hot end attached (and without the detached end being hot). Filament does NOT feed. Motor turns, scraping off plastic from the stationary filament. If I give the filament a push from above, or a tug from below, filament moves with more force than my pull or push alone, so the motor is "assisting". If I stop pulling, filament stops moving, gear begins scrapping off filament.

I have adjusted the pressure on the filament a number of times, to maximum tightness, very loose and everywhere between.

SO... did customer support make an oops and just not send a different sized gear? One that goes with 3mm, vs. say a finer toothed gear for 1.75 mm??
Its an educated guess as I cannot see a gear to gear picture comparison on any of the pages I've searched on geeetech site, or this forum. Its probably a somewhat unusual circumstances.

Any other ideas?

How about adjust the voltage for the motor driver? it should be 0.8-1.5V, usually is 0.8-1.0V.
