Acrylic I3 pro B: BIG Customization
CIao,
after having completed the build of my i3B I've customize it to convert the printer from DIY to something that can be hosted on any desk!
You can found all STL on my http://www.thingiverse.com/Luca_Benedetto/about

Of course!Mark wrote:have you print all of them yet? I'd like to see what's it looks like~~
BEFORE share on Thingiverse I've all print and mount:
And some parts not only one time in order to share only final and good design:
- Power Box http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:942568
Arduino Box http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:933580
Underbody Box http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:960343
LCD Box http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1052337
Filament Holder http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:869138
Y-Plate http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:952055
Extruder End http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:933555
End Stopper Protections http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:933588
X-Motor End http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:933567
X Bearing holder http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:880397
And now my printer is really something that can be used by anyone and placed on any desk without problem...

Hi Luca
Some really nice customizations just what it needs proper guards and covers and some cable chains like "proper" CNC machines
I'm just finishing the build of an i3 pro C dual extruder and some of the components do look very vulnerable especially the endstops and the power supply I don't like having mains voltage quite as exposed as it is that little cover on the power supply is very flimsy and it certainly doesn't meet U.K. specs I don't know about your country but probably the same.
I quite agree about using ACME feedscrews on the Z Axis The first thing I noticed when building mine is there is quite a lot of backlash on the Z axis but as it doesn't have to change direction in use it doesn't matter as much.
But backlash is a bad thing in anything like this. It doesn't matter how accurate your steppers are or how rigid the machine is if there is backlash in the screws the positioning won't be as good.
Where did you get your ACME screws and what pitch are they ?
I Assume that you have to alter the pulses/mm calibration to accommodate different feedscrew pitches.
Regards Mark

when I've change the M8 with the ACME T8 I've take the 8mm with 2mm and I've of course change the Z step inside the Marlin!
