Prusa i3 pro C - dual extruder not starting up

Post by jaitas »

Hello

My prusa i3 pro C has stopped starting up. LCD panel shows only two rows of black bars and the reset button doesn't work.

- I have tried to connect to the printer via repetetier and octoprint
- I have tried to turn it off and on again :)
- LCD panel shows only two black bars
- I have tried to use the reset button

I have attached an image of the lcd screen and a message repetetier informs after connecting to the printer.

How I should proceed in solving this problem? :)

Hello

I contacted your tech support and they pointed me already to that direction.

Right now my problem is that I cannot seem to upload firmware or to get arduino working with the printer at all. When I manually install the correct drivers you had mentioned in the thread windows displays it as a malfunctioning device.

So to summarize

- I have tried to do this with two seperate pc:s a windows 10 laptop (where installing arduino drivers results in a blue screen of death) and a windows 7 pc where installing correct drivers result a malfunction in device (yellow exclamation mark)
- I cannot try to upload the firmware ( I have tried arduino 1.0.1 which was provided in these forums and also newest version which didn't work at all (firmware didn't comply))

So is there a way to for example test if my board is infact somehow broken. the green power led is on but not other leds?

It could be that installing the firmware would help but right now I can't seem to get it work in any way :)

(I have used the thread you mentioned above and this thread: http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 20&t=16433 )

Try to re-insatall the driver as the link shows here:

I can install a USB Serial port driver using that instructions but with that driver installed it always times out in the "uploading" phase of the process. I will attach a txt file with the error messages that arduino 1.0.1 shows after the process is finally terminated.

If I on the other hand try to install "proper" arduino drivers for Mega 2560 from arduino folder it shows yellow exclamation mark -> Some people have said that it must be indeed these drivers installed for arduino to work correctly.

Honestly I don't know to which direction move in this problem, black boxes prevail and printer isnt working :)

I have tried to google the problem but haven't found anything promising...

" it always times out in the "uploading" phase of the process"
I think you can try the follwing setps:
1)try to unlug all the other parts on the board and just leave the USB when you upload the firmware;
2) check the crystal oscillator on the board, it might be loose or bad contact, maybe try to resolder it.

Hello

1.)
I have tried now to unplug every wire except the USB -> It still times out when I press upload.
If I however choose a programmer AVR ISP and then select upload using programmer it will return with a following error: avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00
attachment: should I use progammer and if yes, what one? I have tried using them all but AVR ISP seems to give most promising error message (others just say that there's no device connected)

2.)
I have checked the crystal oscillator, it seems to be securely attached to the board and there's no visible damage to it.

So unfortunately those tips didn't seem to help in my case :/

Hello I have not had any luck in solving my problem with the prusa i3 pro C not starting up.

Friend suggested to use the bootloader method in uploading the firmware. Is this type of uploading possible?

And if yes are there schematics for the GT2560 board how to connect wires for the bootloader method?

There's no pin on the board available for you to connect to upload the bootloader, I think you can contact the seller to have a new board.
