Prusa I3 M201 USB Connection

Post by halwanin »

Hi everyone ....

I have download the Repetier-Hos 1.6 and connect it to the M201 successfully and printing a nice cube for testing ... the result was very good ... Then I quit the software .... after 10 min I have tried to reconnect it gives me an error: "Access to the Port COM3 is denied" ... I have tried to restart PC and turn off the printer several times .... same error. I uninstalled the USB driver and reinstall it ... same error .... I have connect the printer to my laptop it searches the driver and install it .... I have tried to connect to the printer using MatterControl software (I don't have the Repetier-Host on my laptop) ... it gave me COM3 in use ....!!! I have tried to reset the controller board .... nothing change .... So is the problem with USB on the GTM32 Controller board itself ? Please advise ...

maybe try another pure windows system, such as a newly installed one in the virtual machine. Or check if a new USB cable works.

Hi Mark ...

I would like to tell you that the solution I found about this issue after a lot of trial was that the server-side for the Repetier-Host was started automatically whenever I launch the application ... therefore it hold the COM port ... so whenever you click the connect button it gave this error ... to solve it I stop the server from the menu bar and press the connect button ... it works normally ....

Moreover I would like to ask you: If a there is a new release of Prusa I3 M201 firmware (newer then the 1.0.3 version), how would we know ?

regards,
Nabil

I see...I didn't install the server part on my conmputer so that's why I never run into this problem.
And the firmware, when we release a new version you'll see it in the link below:
