Has my Control board died?

I'm still trying to get to grips with a Geeetech Prusa i3. I was using Pronterface and Slic3r reasonably well, although print quality was a bit rough. So I decided to try out Repetier instead. I then tried uploading Repetier firmware, which simply didn't work. I then re-uploaded the original Marlin firmware from the Geeetech website - so far so good.

BUT

Now I can connect to the printer and I can extrude filament, but the X, Y, and Z steppers aren't moving at all. There is a humming noise coming from the machine (I think it may be from the control board, but I'm not sure) whenever I send a command to move one of the axes.

Does anyone know what's going on?

how's the driver boards? are they ok? I think you need to check them as the link shows:

Although the extruder was working fine, I can't get a meter reading from any of the boards including the extruder board. Does anyone have a clue what's going on - I'm completely ignorant about electronics.

then use the working driver board on the extruder to verify the other driver boards, replace them one by one with the working driver, see if those motors will working or not.

I've swapped the connection from the Z axis to the extruder board, and it didn't work. I then moved the extruder board to the Z position and it still didn't work

I wonder where did you get the firmware? you can download the one here:

And I have a test firmware for GT2560, it will make all the motors rotate back and forth all the time, so you'll know the board is dead or not.
Note when you test it, better to remove all the belts from the motors or it might cause a collision!

I downloaded the firmware from the Geeetech website, but maybe the wrong one. I'm not sure which i3 I have since I got it from someone else. I think it's a Pro version, a bit like the M201, but maybe an older version.

I need the software for a Mac.

The link you provided is for the Arduino software which I already have, but I need the firmware for the Arduino program to open. I loaded the Marlin firmware and this is what seemed to kill the printer. I attach a pic of the control board.

no matter what OS you use, the firmware is the same one. I have to see the whole printer to check what printer type you had, not just the board.
And how about use the pronterface again? will it work?
