Acrylic i3 - change the X belt tension bearing screw to 20mm

Post by chase »

On the Acrylic i3's with the printed carriers change the X axis belt pulley bearing assembly Cap Screw from a M4x25mm to a M4x20mm or M4x22mm.

Using the current instructions and called for M4x25mm cap screw in the X axis belt tension bearing assembly. If used this will drag on the acrylic and scratch the acrylic all along the Z axis on the belt tensioning side. The M4x25mm cap screw is too long.

I can't speak for the newer all metal carrier but on the printed carriers this has been pointed out on YouTube with a fix to turn the cap screw around. Which will work but by doing so, you can no longer tighten the bearing cap screw with out removing the tensioning assembly.

I have the i3 Pro B and used a M4x20mm which solves this issue. I believe you could use up to a M4x22mm but I haven't tested it since I don't have a M4x22mm cap screw to test it with.

thank you for your consideration in this matter.
