I wanted to share my experience with intermittent extruding.
I was frustrated for long time as my I3 pro B stopped extruding in the middle of the print. If I pushed the filament by hand, the extrusion continue for a while till it again stopped to have nice extrude.
- I've tried to adjust the flow rate - no evil.
- First I though it was clogged, I've removed the hot end and clean it with torch - Printing started nice, but then again began to intermittent extrude.
- I've tried to swap the step motor drive between one of the axis and the extruder - no evil.
- I've checked the voltage as suggested, tried to adjust - no evil.
- I had another step motor cable, replaced - no evil.
- I've removed the step motor from the hot end, and tried to jog for 100mm. the filament moved ~30-40mm
- I've added a 3mm nut to the spring to get more pressure on the filament - no evil
- I've placed an order the aluminium kit instead of the plastic one, thinking this could be the resolution.
- As interim step, I wanted to replace the step motor with one I had for another project.
The MK8 extruder was pre-assembled when bought. The teeth wheel was installed far too back and the screw did not press against the flat surface of the shaft. Only one screw exist, while there is a place for two.
I turned the wheel around letting the neck of it facing the outer side instead of the inner side, I've tighten the screw and YES were back in business.
Now the printer is extruding properly and constantly.
PS>
I've canceled the order for the aluminum kit.
