Extruder and Slic3r settings problem!
Extruder and Slic3r settings problem!
Hi to everybody, I'm Lorenzo and i have a problem with my printer Geeetech I3X.
If i want to print a piece i have to set in slic3r a very high extruder multiplier (around 6 or 7) to see plastic come out from the extruder, if i set it to 1 or 2 i can observe a massive under extrusion. Anyway i can't understand if it is a firmware problem or a slic3r settings problem. In fact it depends even on which kind of piece i have to print. If it is detailed i have to set some settings, if it's a big piece i have to set other settings, if there are some details and some big parts the piece comes out very bad.
I post some pictures: Do you have a solution for this problem? Do you think it's the firmware or some slic3r settings?
Thank you very much, Lorenzo.

Re: Extruder and Slic3r settings problem!
Hi,
First check if you have a right setting for the "nozzle diameter" of slicer settings(maybe you set it to 0.4mm while yours is 0.3mm).
Then refer to this post to check your feeder:

Hi, first of all thanks for the attention
I noticed that in the firmware Marlin i didn't set the correct filament diameter that was set to 3.0 mm instead of 1.75 mm.
Do you think it was the problem?
Thanks

It is possible...
I think you can reset it to take a look.

Re: Extruder and Slic3r settings problem!
Ok i set the filament diameter to 1.75mm in Marlin and Slic3r, the A4899 voltage of the extruder to 0.9V, and the extruder step/mm to 93 as default in marlin for the MK8 ectruder, but.. i still have to set an extruder multiplier of 5 or 6 in slic3r to get a print.
When i try to extrude 10mm of filament with repetier, the printer feeds just 2mm, and when i try to extrude 50mm, it feeds 10mm.. Which could be the problem? Thank you

Re: Extruder and Slic3r settings problem!
As i said before, maybe it is the tension on the feeder is not sufficient...
You can try the solutions in that post to verify it.

Re: Extruder and Slic3r settings problem!
Ok, i check the pressure of the spring on the filament and it is ok. I don't understand why to print something i have to set an extruder multiplier of 6 or 7 in Slic3r.
Yesterday i tried to print a piece with some details and a brim on the hotbed. The printer printed the brim well but when it started to print the details the filament literally didn't come out, in fact the printer did not extrude it but the extruder works because i can observe it turn when retracting and pushing the filament. The extruder is clean because i changed it yesterday and its diameter is the same in slic3r (0.3mm). So the problem occurs when i print small things and in any case i have to set an extruder multiplier of 6 or 7. My extruder is an MK8 and i set 95 step/mm as default in Marlin. My Marlin is a Geeetech 2015 version for I3X. What do you think it could be?
Thanks for support.

Re: Extruder and Slic3r settings problem!
Hi, i solved my problem. I did not flash correctly the firmware on the GT2560 so there was set a 3 mm filament diameter.
Thank you for support, bye!
