How can i verify a dead LCD screen?

Post by NickNonsense »

Hey, can anyone help me verify I have a dead LCD screen before I go ahead and order a replacement, please? I was tiding up the electronics, putting everything into a nice enclosure and when I had finished and powered up the printer my LCD screen shows just black boxes. I have checked all connections, firmware, even flashed new firmware. The printer connects to desktop fine and able to control it there but not an ideal place as I lack space to leave it print, so need the sd reader and nice to have the LCD to check on temps etc too.

In my opinion, this is due to a faulty connection.

Probably your new display requires different signals for control and a different code.

1.Maybe you need to check the mainboard works or not
2.You need to reburn the bootloader of it

sorry for not replying but it seems like all my posts require mod verification before they show and is painfully slow. So i resorted to other forums.

I bought the RepRap 12864 LCD Graphic Smart Display and just done a straight swap. The display was cheap enough anyway. One thing to note is for the LCD encoder to work properly you need both the LCD and SD cables attached as the SD cable controllers the encoder.
