Had exactly the same problem and fixed it today with 2mm packing. Now works fine. Wish I'd seen this post two weeks ago!

My ProB system has a slight different situation:

1. If I use manual control to feed filament, it works fine.
2. When use Slicer to drive the print, it only feed very little, almost no filament.

I took off the fan and heat sink, I can see the feeding wheel moving, but very little, almost no filament is coming out.

I checked the G-Code the Slicer geneated, it has F values in the 1000-2000 range, is that reasonable?

The difference is that when you're feeding manually, you have the nozzle up off the glass and it can flow freely. When you're printing, the nozzle is against the glass and there is more resistance.

If you hear a thumping sound from the extruder when you're printing, then you might be too close to the glass. If not, your extruder is slipping and not feeding the filament. You'll need to make adjustments there. This is probably the case.

Hello,

I just built my Prusa I3 Pro B this weekend and the printer did an awesome job with the sample filament(pla?) But when I tried a roll of abs I have extruder issues. If I put manual pressure it is fine but letting it run on its own, is a different story. As it was printing I adjusted the filament amount to 430 in the tune menu. Any thoughts, I am only a few days new to 3d printing. I have more pla on order and have given up on trying the abs.

Thank you

Good news,

I actually broke the extruder arm because I added more tension to it, it broke right at the bearing. That whole tensioner is the weak link. I purchased a new one on ebay and the printer is printing like a champ. The spring on the geeetechouse is junk.

Thanks for this post it helped solve the problems I was having as well. I just stuck 3 of the small washers you get with the kit in the bottom mount hole for the spring and problem solved. :D

I tried removing the plastic but I may have removed too much of it. Can you provide the .stl files of the mount? Are they available somewhere for download?
