Beginner: Me Creator Mini Z-axis problem

Post by Alex999 »

Hi Geeetech!

This is my first 3d printer so I am new with the issues that can occure with this kind of machines.
I have a few questions and an issue.

When it arrived this week I put it together, connected to my laptop went to the Wiki as it was described in the manual, downloaded Repetier, installed it and started it.
A connection was made with the printer and everything seemed fine.

In the Wiki manual the instructor,
http://geeetech.com/wiki/index.php/Me_Creator
has a dropdown menu in printer settings, where he chooses this printer. There is no dropdown only default in my case.

I lowered the bed and applied kapton tape.
I can control the printer without problems in regards to x and y, but i cant move the z to the extruder. The bed stops halfway, it assumes that this is the max.
I can control heatings and so on.
But I assume that I need some setup values for this printer in repetier to make it work correctly.
Where can I get a new version of repetier with the setup as in the wiki manual, I got my version of repetier from the link in the wiki manual.

Some more questions:
The sample fillament wich is included in the box is it ABS or PLA?
Can the fan over the circuitboard be replaced with something less sounding? Very high pitched sound.
The LCD-display: has a knob which can be turned, what is it for?
Above the knob there is a component with a sticker saying "Remove seal after washing" should it be removed?
In the manual the instructor says 195 for extruder 95 for bed, but I read entries on the forum that it might be different depending on the chosen material.
The fans seem to go on max, is that as it should be?

Sincerely,
/Alex

Hi Alex,
1) Download the RepetierHost from the wiki page an re-install it, you may get the dorpdown menu, it doesn't matter that you use a old version or a new version, we just add some parameter for MeCreator.
2) Please check if the screw hit Z endstop or not, Z endstop is on left side of bed.
3) We usually send PLA filament as simple filament;
4) The knob is a buzzle;
5) We only have one type of fan,and it always run in full speed, now we're developing a more silent printer.
6) Recommended temperatures: PLA 210 for extruder and 75 for bed; ABS 230 for extruder and 95 for bed. Of course You can change them in these areas: temperature for PLA is from 170 to 210 for extruder and for ABS is from 210to 250 for extruder, and keep Bed temperatures lower than 110.

Hi John!

The first time i installed Repetier, I downloaded it from you webpage.
I do not know what parameters to input in Repetier.

No the bed does not touch the switch on the left side. I can lower the bed and raise it until it reaches mid level. Up and down, but not all the way up to the extruder. I guess that Repetier does not know that it is possible to move it more.

Regarding the LCD Display:
(O) - with sticker, should I remove the sticker?
O - potentiometer, what does it do?
x - reset button.

Sincerely,
/Alex

Problem solved:
I have never used Repetier and did not know that the way you calibrate it was by just pressing the buttons with house icons.

I downloaded a simple model, a dice, fixed the slicer and now it works as described.

Thanks for your help John!

did you home the printer before you manually move the axis? if not then it will behave like this.
