M201 printing failure

Post by AreDigg »

Hi
I have finally finished building the M201, and after adjusting voltages all motors work properly and it seem to move fine in all the axis. And both extruder motors push filament into the hotend. Filament is coming out and even in both colors.

However, it looks like it is sort of curling around the nozzle and not sticking to the aluminium bed. I tried to up the temperature to 270℃, and while it flows slightly more it will still not stick to the bed.

I have adjusted the build plate so that the nozzle is about a paper-height above the build plate when it is homed.

Any idea how to fix this?

270 degrees is too high for the filament, usually for PLA it is about 195-210 and 230-245 for ABS. Also the bed temp is about 60-70 for PLA and 90-110 for ABS.
And how about use some glue or hairspray on the bed before printing? it will be very helpful for the first layer to stick to the bed.

I tried from 160 and in steps to 270. And bed from 50 to 70. There is no improvement. I will try some more today. Maybe a different glue can help.

You can also try the blue tape.
As for me, I have added a glass plate on the aluminum bed which is not flat enough by itself.

I use masking tape on my bed at 220c for PLA and I use a 5 strand skirt . I have used the expencive blue tape , the cheap brown tape and the cheap green tape from the dollar store . there all good .
