INVERT_X_DIR not working

Hi everybody,
I have a i3 Pro B and I'm trying to make to X homing work.
The X axis moves OK, and the direction is towards left (+ movement goes left).
In my printer the X endstop is on the left (I think that's the default location, nect to the X axis motor).

The problem: the X axis homing command moves the X to the right until the right side is reached and the motor makes weird noises.
I believe the X homing should move the X towards left ... where the X end stop is located.

I tried to download the firmware and modify INVERT_X_DIR in the configuration.h, but I see no change. The firmware is compiled and uploaded OK,
but there's no change. I tried to put INVERT_X_DIR to "true" and "false" several times, but I see no change.
What's wrong with it?

Did you check your wiriing of X axis endstop? max or min?
