Pi3 Pro B LCD2004 Controller NO DISPLAY

Hi, I purchased my Geeetech Pi3 Pro B DIY kit from GearBest who advertise as agents for Geeetech products. I am not having too much success with them at all.
I have completed the assembly, connected to the computer with Repetier Host through Repetier Server, tested through Arduino sketch 'Blink' and board responded successfully. Yellow led blinking.
The LCD 2004 Controller displayed and appeared to be fine (to a novice-myself).
My first problem was that the Y axis moved in the wrong direction. I then switched of power, disconnected power and unplugged from the computer. I then checked all the assembly wiring again.
I have now reconnected but the LCD 2004 display only shows 2 lines of black squares. I have tried re-tuning via the potentiometer next to the connection EPX2. Not the problem.
I am a complete novice and have followed the instructions, but obviously something is not right.

are you sure, you didn't switch the LCD cable with the SD cable?

Hi waldamore, thanks for your interest. I have checked the cables, switched the cables just to make sure. Cables aren't what seems to be the problem.
I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled Arduino 1.0.1. Marlin firmware and Repetier Host as per instructions from Geeetech agent. Zilch.. Thanks

Hi William, thank you for the interest.
No, I haven't been able to fix it and I'm now convinced that the lcd display is at fault.
I am about to (this weekend), uninstall everything again, clean-up, and try re-install.
I have sent 2 messages to GearBest, the agents, with absolutely no response as yet,
but have had some good chats to staff at Geeetech.

Hi William, No I have not tried another LCD panel but it will be my next move.
I still have not had any useful response from GearBest regarding the LCD.
I am going to be away for the month of December so January will be when I change the LCD panel.
