Y axis shifting randomly during print
I have a Geeetech I3 X. The problem I'm having is, when printing, the Y axis randomly skips/slips and makes a kind of grinding noise when it does so. This causes the print to shift, ruining the print. I have removed the belt and the Y carriage moves pretty smooth up and down the shaft. I have upped the voltage on the A4988 driver to 1.0v. I even replaced the driver with a drv8825 (which didn't work, it caused the motor to barely move and make a horrible grinding noise). Has anyone else had this problem? What could be some of the causes for this? And how can I successfully install the drv8825 drivers?

Re: Y axis shifting randomly during print
this is related to your other question, so perhaps something else is up. Try physically swapping the X and Y motors and not using the drv8825 (go back to the stock drivers). If the problem follows the motor then you have a bad motor. If the problem stays with the Y-axis even though you swapped the motor, then swap the cable from the controller card to the Y-axis with X-axis. If the problem still is with the Y-axis then check the belt/pulley for binding and alignment.
