Stepper motor Jitter issues

Hi, i have the Acrylic prusa i3 with Mega 2560 + Ramps 1.4, and i have constructed it and wired as show in the manuals, this is my first printer and the heat bed and nossle heat up and i can connect to it through my pc, when i try to mnaually move the motors they do not move, jitter or pulse, and i get an message on the bottom of the lcd saying endstops hit: (which ever axis i move). some help would be appreciated.
