Acrylic i3 stops responding

Hi,

I have an i3 that has been working for a little while. Now all of a sudden it will no longer print properly. After starting a print with Repetier my printer stops completely and will not respond to anything until it is unplugged and reset. Most of the time it will stop responding before the printer is up to temperature and I am not able to do anything with it.

My printer has a mega2560 with ramps 1.4.

Could it be the firmware?

Not sure what is happening and any help would be great!

Thank you for the firmware but, it does not seem to have fixed the problem. Any other suggestions?

Can you control the printer by LCD?

Yes, the printer works using the LCD and can print off of an SD card. It just has troubles when I try to print over USB
