Steppers move halfway the amount it should be for all axis

Post by xjkayyx »

When i move the axis directly from the lcd and move it to 200mm (its max) it moves around to 100mm which is obviously bad for both x and y axis. I looked online and there were some solutions like using repetier and directly changing it through the settings or changing with the g code. However, it still did not work and wont save the new setting no matter what. The only solution i can think of is directly changing the code in the arduino which btw i do not have. Any solution for this problem? I've been stuck on this for quite some time and still havent found anything. Please let me know anything and if you need any more details, feel free to ask. THANKS!

Hi, I think it is micro step issue. What type of stepper driver are you using? A4988 or DRV8825?
If you are using A4988, please make sure all the jumper caps have been well plugged. 3 jumper caps for each A4988.

You need to plug only 1 jumper cap for each DRV8825.

So, it fixed the issue but another problem happened. The z axis motor on the left side for some reason stopped working so the right motor kept it running upwards when i was doing a test run. There was no visible damage at the moment. I'm still looking into it but does this seem unusual at all? Thanks!

I think the power of z motors are not high enough, but firstly, please check if the 2 zotors are connected in the same direction.

Then rotate the screw on z motor driver, to let the voltage between the screw and GND is more than 1V.
