Defective power supply sent with i3 kit

Post by chuckv3 »

I have blown one GT2560 board, and paid for a replacement myself after getting frustrated with delays in answers to my emails.

When I install the new controller board, everything seemed fine until I hooked up the USB from my PC. Immediately the FAN (blowing on the main board) slowed down, and then the light inside the power supply started fading in and out. I heard some kind of small spark noise, and immediately unhooked everything. Also, all of my USB devices on my PC stopped working. Luckily powering the PC off and back on seems to have restored the USB devices, so I believe the PC has no permanent damage.

This may be why the previous controller board was destroyed. I would like to get a replacement power supply without having to pay for it. I have already paid for a replacement GT2560 board. Please test it with a GT2560 with a PC connected to the USB port.

I am reading in another forum that a 15A power supply (which I was given as part of this Prusa I3 kit) is underpowered for the I3. If you have an APPROPRIATE power supply, please send that instead.

I have 3 i3 kits all of which the power supply has died. 1 the switch was defective, the other 2 I have replaced with ATX power supplies.

You need to contact the technical support to check the PSU.
