Can anyone suggest a simple first item to print

Hi
Just wondering if anyone can suggest a simple item that is suitable for the first item to print. I wish to verify that i can get the machine to operate under its own control (i have only used manual controls thus far in Repetier host). I tried to print a calibration cube that i downloaded however had no sucess at all, it moved one axis and that was it, I am new to all things programming and I am not exactly sure that if i would need to change the G-code.
Looking for suggestions for a simple item that can get me up and running on my Aluminium I3 printer. That way i can see easier which issues i need to attend to.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

I think if your printer is ok, then no matter which object it will be the same.
so what the exactly problem is when printing? and maybe you can refer to the link here to learn how to set the printer and slic3r:
