Extruder Stepper motor not working - i3 Pro B

Post by chrisj »

Hi.

I'm having a serious issue with my i3 Pro B. The extruder stepper motor is not working when connected to the correct socket on the GT2560. I believe my GT2560 is broken.

I have read the other forums post closely, and performed the following tests:

* When I connect the extruder to the Y axis, and move using menu = the extruder stepper motor WORKS.
* I swap extruder stepper driver (4988) with Y axis = Y axis stepper motor WORKS.
* I test all 4988 driver with multimeter - all correct (0.8-0.9V)
* I clear arduino using EEPROM clear, then reinstall firmware = extruder DOES NOT WORK
* I have tried using 2nd extruder connection on GT2650 = DOES NOT WORK

I have no other ideas, and advice would be greatly appreciated - a replacement GT2560 would be good.

Thanks Chris J

Maybe the extruder motor wire was broken?

OK,i think you can try this:
First heat up the extruder to the melting temp(depends ABS or PLA you're using),then test the extruder motor's movement after the preset temp reaches.
Let me know how it goes.

Hi,

Yes I have tried this multiple times.

I have let the printer heat the nozzle and heatbed to the correct temperature - then tried to print.
The extruder motor does not move at all.

Could you attach a video about your extruder motor test?Including heating the nozzle and not heating.Thx
