Change Fillament - MK8 extruder

Post by Mythandar »

I have a Geeetech I3 Pro B and was wondering if there's an easy way to replace the filament. So far I've been cutting the filament off at the extruder then advance the extruder motor while pushing the new filament into the extruder until I get the new color coming out. I've tried heating it up and backing off the filament until it's out but I think there's a small bulb of filament on the end which won't come past the gear. I swear I read somewhere how to do this and just need someone to point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Hi,you can reverse the extruder's motor to change filament more easier. There is a button to do that in the Repetier Host, like the picture showing.

I do that, but it gets stuck just before the gear. I think there's a small bulb of filament left on the end which doesn't get past the gear, even if I remove the pressure using the release.
