kossel mini and arduino

Hi everyone,
I have a huge problem. Well it is for me, anyway.
I built the kossel mini machine, calibrated it etc, and it worked really well. Then I was contacted by a guy who had lost his ear through illness, and he wanted to create a prosthetic for himself and then progress to doing it as a business.
I thought this would be a good opportunity to give something back, so I agreed to lend him my brand new machine so that he could work on his ambitions. Anyway, after some time, he contacted me saying that the machine was not capable of doing what he needed so would like to return it, which he did.
I have now got 2 problems: First of all he dropped the machine and broke some bits, which I have now repaired or replaced, Secondly, and this is now my big problem, he has either messed with the firmware, or broken the mother board, because the machine will not work at all.
When I try to home the axes, the x attempts to home, but the y and z do not move, so the machine locks up, then when I position the head near the top so it wont lock up, the x goes home followed by the y, but then the machine stops and does not home the z axis. Each axis does move in jog mode.
My thinking is that he must have loaded the firmware for the prusa and not the kossel.
I would like to re-install the firmware for the kossel so that I can eliminate that as the problem, but I cannot get the arduino sketch to compile.
I have tried every version of arduino, and cannot make sense of it. I know nothing about the programming or editing of arduino sketches and am desperate for help.
Sorry for the long story, but hopefully someone will understand my problem and come to my rescue.

If you have tried loading the latest version，there may be some problems in the board. perhaps you can change a new board to make your printer work well.
