Like I said....Computers aren't my thing. : ) I have the firmware as sent to me via email. Sanguinololu i3. I'll make another attempt at compiling according to the above, and see what happens. Could this be why the LCD is only displaying blocks? My compiling errors?

Maybe the contrast is too high, rotate the screw above SD card on the back side of LCD.

Thanks, I'll try that. If that doesn't work, I can still proceed without the LCD correct?
One more question though in regards to compiling, ( and this will prove without a doubt I am not exactly computer literate : ). But where / how - do I find Arduino.exe exactly?
Thanks

Yes, You only need a computer to upload the firmware.
You can refer to this page to see how to upload the firmware:

Please tell me.
I downloaded Arduino, Sanguinololu, Marlin.
Unzipped them.
Opened and ran Arduino. Clicked "file" tab selected "open". Selected hardware folder from drop down and copied Sanguinololu + Marlin files into it. Clicked "tools" tab in Arduino and selected port and board.

No, you just need to drag Marlin files into Arduino.

This is a perfect example of how the whole thing becomes confusing for those not overly experienced with the finer workings of a computer. You say I only need to drag Marlin into Arduino. But where? And if only Marlin, why does the "firmware" thread state that I need to unzip a Sanguinololu file download and drag it into Arduino as well?

Oh, sorry, I thought that was specific enough. I've updated that page, please check if there is something left out or not specific enough. Thank you.
