Problem with m201 and x axis.

Post by Ulven_ »

Hi, i have an m201 where the x axxis is not moving when i use the auto home in the menu, z and y axxis are moving, but if i go in motion and move the x manually it moves, and i can move x from the repetier software. and if i turn all off, move it to the 0 point (front to the left) and then tries to print it moves in all directions and seems fine, but autohome will not move x axxis, it moves the x 2cm to the right and then y and z goes to home point.
Whats wrong and how do i solve this?

Next thing, when i try to print, i slice it and printer moves, but no filament is coming out.. If i manually feed it comes out of the hotend, but not when i print.. is this something i have forgotten in the settings before i slice?

"it moves the x 2cm to the right and then y and z goes to home point. "
This usually means your endstop is open circuit or plugged in the wrong socket, you need to check it.

" i slice it and printer moves, but no filament is coming out.. I"
Have you leveled the bed and nozzle before printing? If the nozzle is too close to the bed when printing the filament will not come out freely.
And remember the filament will not come out in the first one or too loops, it needs time before it comes out freely.

btw.. there is an option in the software to adjust number of steps pr mm on extruders, are there a default settings for this?

i have abs and use 1.75 thikness with a nozzle with 0.2mm hole ;)

You can find the default settings under the menu: control -> motion -> X/Y/Z/E steps.
But you can fine tune it like this: manually move the axis 50mm, and then measure the actual moving distance, compare this two values and increase or decrease the steps and test it again.

Ok, i extruded filament1 with the 10 in the software, but it moved 9mm inside the plastic tube, I guess i have to set a higher value on extruder steps to compesate this? correct?

yeah you're right. If your current E steps value is 95 for 9mm, then you might need to try 105.5 for 10mm.

Hi again, what should the voltage be on the stepper drivers?
I used a voltmeter and i read this from them?

the black to ground, and the red to the adjustment knob on the driver.
what is the correct voltage on them?

check out this link to adjust it:

But note the voltage for your main power is 24V and for the mainchip is 3.3V.

we tested today, and the highest voltage we could get on the stepper drivers was 1.013 and we think this is not high enough, should at least be 1.2 or maby 1.3..
Are there any better stepper drivers that can give higher voltage?

can i use i.e. 8825 on x, y and z axis and 4988 on extruders?
