moving from pla to abs

Post by tassat01 »

Hi there,

After a few weeks of testing my printer and being very impressed with how it prints I've got a roll of abs to play with.

As i found pla great testing is there any special settings I needed to change.

In pla I use the blue tape but I understand you need to heat the bed. Do you print directly onto the glass and what's a recommended temperature for abs and the hot bed.

Hi,Pete
For ABS filament, the recommended temp is 230-240℃ for extruder,90-110℃ for heat bed.

after getting some other issues fixed and realising when it was extruding the filament i realised that it was too far away from the bed on the first layer. this happened also in pla too.
I relised that i had to reload the configuration file back into repetier and realised theres one for pla and abs. Next time ill load the config for abs and try it out.
I changed back to pla and got a blocked extruder but that was pretty easy to unblock.
